Editorial Policy
How PrinterTutor lessons are researched, written, reviewed and kept up to date.
Purpose and scope
Our lessons teach beginners how to set up, connect, use, maintain and troubleshoot printers. We publish a focused set of thorough lessons rather than many thin pages, and each one is built around a single task with a clear goal, numbered steps and a way to check it worked.
Who writes the lessons
Lessons are published under the byline “PrinterTutor Editorial Team”. We don’t list individual author profiles or claim professional certifications, and we don’t claim hands-on testing of specific printer models.
Use of AI tools
We use AI writing tools to help outline and draft lessons. AI output is never published unreviewed. Every lesson is checked against official Microsoft, Apple and manufacturer documentation for accuracy, safety and clarity, and anything that can’t be supported is removed or phrased generally with a pointer to official documentation.
Accuracy and safety standards
- No invented specifics: we don’t make up control-panel menu paths, button sequences, error codes, light patterns, page yields or model-specific steps. Where details vary by model, we say so and point to the manual or the manufacturer’s support site.
- Official software only: we only direct readers to drivers and apps from the printer manufacturer, Windows Update or Apple. We never recommend driver download sites, driver updater tools or bundles.
- Security stays on: we never advise turning off antivirus, firewalls or other security protections, and we never ask readers for passwords.
- User-level care only: we describe the doors, trays and maintenance tools manufacturers intend users to use. We never describe removing covers that need tools, touching hot laser printer parts or bypassing safety switches.
- Honest limits: no guaranteed fixes; every lesson explains when to contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician.
Sources
We rely on official Microsoft and Apple help pages and printer manufacturers’ support sites, and list the relevant pages under “Official documentation” at the end of each lesson. Every link is checked before publication.
Independence
No company pays to appear in or shape our lessons. The site does not currently carry advertising or affiliate links. If that changes, commercial content will be clearly labeled and kept separate from editorial decisions.
Updates and corrections
Each lesson shows when it was published and, when changed, when it was last updated. If something doesn’t match your system or looks wrong, email support@printertutor.com with the page address, and we will check and correct it.
