About PrinterTutor
PrinterTutor is an independent educational website with step-by-step lessons that teach beginners how to set up, connect, use, maintain and troubleshoot a home or small-office printer.
Why the site exists
Printers are everyday tools, but setting one up or getting it back online can feel confusing. Manuals assume you know the vocabulary, settings screens change between versions, and search results are full of pages that push downloads you don’t need. PrinterTutor teaches the tasks step by step, in plain English, so beginners, students, families and small offices can do them with confidence.
What we teach
The lessons are organized into eight topics:
- Printer Basics: printer types, parts and the words you’ll see.
- Setup & Installation: unbox, prepare and add your printer to a computer.
- Wi-Fi & Connectivity: wi-Fi, USB and getting back on the network.
- Drivers & Software: official drivers, updates and clean reinstalls.
- Printing Lessons: settings, double-sided, page selection and photos.
- Scanning & Copying: scan to your computer, scan to PDF and copy.
- Ink, Toner & Maintenance: cartridges, tanks, toner, drums and care.
- Troubleshooting: offline, not printing, jams and print quality.
Every lesson states its goal, what you need and which systems it applies to, then walks through numbered steps that tell you what you should see. Each one ends with checks, troubleshooting, the point at which to contact the manufacturer, and links to official documentation.
What we are not
PrinterTutor is not a printer manufacturer, retailer, repair company, authorized service center, warranty provider or official support portal. Specifically, we:
- do not repair printers, connect to anyone’s computer or take calls;
- are not affiliated with, authorized by or partnered with HP, Canon, Epson, Brother, Lexmark, Xerox or any other manufacturer;
- do not sell printers, ink, toner, software or drivers, and never host driver downloads;
- do not review or rank products.
For drivers, warranty service and model-specific instructions, our lessons point you to the manufacturer’s official website, Windows Update or Apple.
How the lessons are made
Lessons are written and reviewed by the PrinterTutor Editorial Team. Drafts may be prepared with the help of AI writing tools, and every lesson is checked and edited before publication. Operating-system steps follow Microsoft’s and Apple’s own help pages, and anything model-specific points to the manufacturer rather than guessing. Our Editorial Policy explains the process in full.
How the site is funded
The site does not currently display advertising, use affiliate links or accept payment from manufacturers or retailers. We may promote the site through online advertising so more people can find the lessons. If we ever add advertising or commercial relationships to the site itself, we will label them clearly and update this page and our Privacy and Cookie policies first.
